Violist Newsha Khalaj has worked with and performed in master classes for such renowned musicians as Nobuko Imai, Roberto Diaz, Misha Amory, Toby Appel, Jean Sulem, Steven Dann, Joel Smirnoff, Robert Koenig, Desmond Hoebig, Helen Callus, Lorna McGhee, Yitzhak Schotten, James Boyd, Joel Strobbe, and members of the Orford, Emerson, and Tokyo String Quartets.
Festivals attended include The Banff Centre Festival for the Arts, Great Mountains International Music Festival, Port Townsend Chamber Music Festival, Domaine Forget Music Academy, and Academie de Musique Tibor Varga. Recent performances include the Distinguished Artist Series at the Alpensia Concert Hall in South Korea, String Festival Concert Series at The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in Canada, and Music for a Summer Evening at the Rolston Concert Hall at the Banff Centre. Her performances have been broadcast on CBC Radio as well as on Korean National Television.
A native of Toronto, Ontario, Miss Khalaj is presently completing a Bachlor of Music degree at The University of British Columbia’s School of Music, studying with David Harding and Gerald Stanick.
