Biography

David-Michael Dunbar: a Canadian concert pianist, composer and teacher.

Canadian pianist David-Michael Dunbar studied in England at the Purcell School (then known as The Central Tutorial School for Young Musicians). His teachers included Iris du Pre and Eva Bernahova. He received personal encouragement from the legendary Artur Rubinstein, when he debuted in Cardiff, Wales, in 1974. David-Michael immigrated to Canada in 1977, making his concert debut in 1979, to unanimous acclaim. Following that success, Dunbar performed on national radio and television and in a variety of solo recitals. In 1980 he released an album and received his Canadian citizenship in 1988. Dunbar has composed various original works for keyboard. He has taught piano in Kitchener for over three decades, he continues to offer private music lessons and teaches at the Star Performance Academy in Waterloo, Ontario.
