Biography

Stephen Brown is one of Canada's notable classical composers with many original compositions and arrangements to his credit. Included in his works are a symphony, a piano concerto, two suites for orchestra, three song cycles, overtures and many chamber and solo works. Recently Brown completed his second and third suites for solo cello, a woodwind quintet revision, and a commission for a song cycle for voice and marimba. He has taken a particular interest in pedagogical works, writing seven books of student pieces for piano, as well as, a book each for violin and flute. He has had many works performed at orchestral and solo concerts.

Stephen is the Theory and Composition Faculty Head of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, Victoria, BC, Canada, an associate of the Canadian Music Centre, the artistic director and conductor of the Sidney Classical Orchestra, Sidney, BC, and the banjo player in the Bastion Jazz Band.
