Amelia Trio, Trio

Biography

The Amelia Piano Trio has been enjoying
a busy performance schedule since forming in 1997. The Trio was
recently honored as a Finalist in the 2000 Walter F. Naumburg
Foundation Chamber Music Competition. In the summer of 2000, the Trio
was invited by Yo-Yo Ma to Tanglewood where they participated in his
Silk Road Project, which brings musicians from around the world to
collaborate on music written throughout Asia. They also served as trio
in residence at the La Jolla Chamber Music Society's Summerfest. In
December 1999. Isaac Stern invited the Amelia Trio to make its Carnegie
Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall, and also presented the ensemble at
the Harvard Club of New York and the University of Michigan in Ann
Arbor, Ml; previously, the Trio was a participant in Mr. Stern's
Chamber Music Workshop. Other performance highlights of the 1999-2000
season include performances in Chicago with the Chicago Symphony's
clarinetist John Bruce Yeh, a broadcast on Wisconsin Public Radio, and
performances and educational activities at the Green Lake Music
Festival in Wisconsin. The 2000-2001 season will include performances
for the Chicago Chamber Music Society, the Mostly Music Series, and at
the Caramoor International Music Festival. They also serve as the Trio
in Residence for the Chicago Youth Symphony.

The Amelia Piano Trio has worked with
such artists as violinists Jaime laredo and Henry Meyer, cellists David
Geringas, Peter Wiley, and Sharon Robinson, and pianists Wu Han and
Joseph Kalichstein.

Violinist Anthea Kreston graduated
from the Curtis Institute of Music and has frequently performed as
soloist with orchestra. Her teachers have included Roland and Almita
Vamos, Felix Galimir, Ida Kavafian, Shmuel Ashkenasi, and Philip
Setzer. She holds a B.A. in Women's Studies from Cleveland State
University and is pursuing her Master's degree at the Hartt School of
Music.

Cellist Jason Duckies made his solo debut at the age of
seventeen with the Oregon Symphony. He received his B.A. from
Northwestern University and his Master's and Doctorate from the SUNY
Stony Brook as a student of Timothy Eddy. Mr. Duckies frequently
appears as the cellist for the Mark Morris Dance Group which tours
throughout the United States and Europe.

Pianist Jonathan Yates is
a Master's student of Gilbert Kalish at SUNY Stony Brook; he received
his B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard University, He has performed in
France, Italy, Monaco, Bulgaria, and Japan. Mr. Yates has also served
as Apprentice Conductor of the Chicago Youth Symphony, as Music
Director of the Harvard Bach Society Orchestra, and conducted the
National Symphony Orchestra in a Millennium Stages performance.
