Ashley Crittenden, Clarinet

Biography

I have played clarinet from the age of 9. When I was 16, I was diagnosed with mild to moderate hearing loss, due to a genetic disorder that causes progressive-degenerative hearing loss -- which means that I will lose my hearing as I get older. Inspired by Beethoven, I decided to not give up my dream to become a high school wind ensemble director. I spent two years at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in the Music Education program there, but due to financial issues, I had to leave. I took a year at Chemeketa Community College in Salem to attempt to knock out some general studies for graduation, and I plan to attend the University of Oregon's School of Music in Fall 2018. My performances here are more for personal tonal studies than for any progression in a career in performance.
