Biography

2006 International Violin Competition of Indianapolis Gold medalist Augustin Hadelich has established himself among the new generation of violinists. Performing since the age of seven, Mr. Hadelich has appeared with the Charlotte, Chautauqua, Syracuse and Greenwich symphonies, the Louisiana Philharmonic, Louisville Orchestra, Capetown Philharmonic, Dresdner Philharmonie (under Yehudi Menuhin), Museumsorchester Frankfurt, and the Staatsorchester Stuttgart.

Among Mr. Hadelich's future engagements are appearances with the symphonies of Fort Worth, Chautauqua, Indianapolis, Louisiana, Columbus, Grand Rapids, Charlotte, Santa Barbara, Kansas City, and the Saarbrucken Radio Symphony Orchestra. March 2008 will mark Mr. Hadelich's Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium Recital debut.

Born in Italy in 1984, the son of German parents, Augustin Hadelich holds a diploma (summa cum laude) from the Institute Mascagni in Livorno, Italy, and a graduate diploma from The Juilliard School, where he was a student of Joel Smirnoff. He has participated at the Marlboro and Ravinia festivals. In 1999, Mr. Hadelich almost lost his life in a fire at the family's farm in Italy. His successful return to the concert stage after many operations and months of painful recovery is a testament to his remarkable talent and indomitable spirit.
