Biography

Known for his musical insight, beautiful tone, and technical command, pianist Brian Lee performs actively as soloist, collaborative artist, and church musician. A regular collaborator with well-known Chicago artists such as CSO violinist David Taylor and flutist Lyon Leifer, Mr. Lee has performed in venues across the United States and Canada, in addition to numerous churches and educational institutions. He has collaborated with many other prominent artists, including cellist Joel Krosnick of the Juilliard String Quartet, mezzo-sopranos Emily Lodine and Jori Jennings, soprano Alexandra Sapan, oboist Ariana Ghez, clarinetist Bharat Chandra, and violinist Stephen Clapp. In 2010, Mr. Lee made his debut with renowned pianist William Phemister as the Chicago Piano Duo, which was featured in the Chicago Tribune this past year. His performances have been broadcast/streamed live on WFMT-Chicago, including a solo recital at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series.

Brian Lee has also been featured as soloist with several orchestras in the Midwest, and has given premieres of works by American composers, including Gunther Schuller, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich, and Alex Freeman. Formerly on the faculty of Northwestern College (Iowa), Mr. Lee is Professor of Music at Moody Bible Institute, where he serves as a piano teacher, chamber music coach, classroom lecturer, and Coordinator of Piano Studies. Lee is a graduate of Wheaton College, New England Conservatory, Royal Conservatory of Music, and The Juilliard School, where he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
