Biography

Carol Comune’s technical precision and lyricism have earned her a reputation as one of today’s premiere pianists performing extensively throughout the eastern United States both as a soloist and a chamber musician. She has been a featured artist in Boston – New England Conservatory of Music, Gardner Museum, Art Complex at Duxbury, and Longfellow National Historic Site; in New York City – Lincoln Center and Steinway Hall; in Palm Beach – Flagler Museum and Kravis Center; and her recitals have been featured on National Public Radio (NPR). Ms. Comune is an active accompanist for voice and instrumentalists in New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.A multi-talented musician, teacher, Ms. Comune has recorded eight albums of original compositions and arrangements through her company, Elegant Entertainment & Co. (BMI), founded in 1985, including “Intracoastal”, 1990; “Echoes from Coquina”, 1991, “Farm of Dreams”, 1993; “Carousel Classics”, 1994; “Season of the Light”, 1997; “Little Gems”, 1999; “Soliloquy of the Soul” and “Season of the Light,” a collection of Advent and Christmas Carols, 2008. Her critically acclaimed albums are featured on commercial stations and National Public Radio worldwide and online stations such as itunes, Amazon, Pandora, Spotify and CDbaby. Ms. Comune’s music has also been featured on the NBC Today Show.

Descriptions of Ms. Comune’s compositions include, “charming,” “bold,” “imaginative and colorful,” and “exceptional.” Late elementary to advance repertoire have been featured on 30th Annual Rivers School Contemporary Music, MA and Piano Teachers Forum, 2012. They include,“Gealyn and Me” (Fantasies for the Young), four piano duets; “Suite for Sleeping Beauty” for solo piano, and “Variations for piano on “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” (18th century Hymn of William Croft) published by Comune Music Press.

Ms. Comune is a faculty member at Westminster Conservatory of Music - Young Artist Program, as a Chamber Coach; master teacher for performance classes, private piano instruction, and as an accompanist. She is a frequent judicator for MTNA/NJ and original compositions competitions in Palm Beach County/FSMTA. Ms. Comune’s early affinity for music led to a scholarship for piano and solfege study with alumnus of the Paris Conservatoire, Mme. Yvonne Combe. Ms. Comune went on to receive a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance with David Hagan at the New England Conservatory of Music and continued studies with Jean Stackhouse-pedagogy, John Felice, Donald Waxmancomposition and influential mentor, concert pianist Anthony di Bonaventura. She has maintained active private studios since 1973 in Boston, Palm Beach and the Lehigh Valley. She served as former faculty in piano, accompanist, and chamber with NEC Prep School, Berklee College of Music and Palm Beach Atlantic University. Comune is a member of MTNA: NEPTA, NJ, Lehigh Vally Music Teachers Association, PA and a Steinway Artist.
