Biography

Clarinetist Medina is a passionate solo and chamber player. Medina has performed in some the most distinguished halls throughout New York City, such as Merkin Hall, Symphony Space, Alice Tully Hall, and Carnegie Hall. She has made solo appearances with the Costa Contra Chamber Orchestra in celebration of Mozart's 250th Anniversary, UNC Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and Ensemble 212 in New York City. As an avid chamber musician and advocator for new music, Medina was a fellow in the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and Institute Festival of Contemporary Performance in New York City. She has also performed with the TACTUS contemporary ensemble, Lunatics at Large, and has performed in CIRCE, the new music festival in Mannes College.

Medina is a strong proponent for music education in schools. She has worked in numerous outreach programs as a teaching artist giving master classes, workshops, and private lessons. Medina currently serves as chamber and clarinet faculty at the Zen Music Center, Geneva Conservatory of Music in New York, Harmony Music Program, teaching artist for Opus Nine Ensemble, and the Inter School Orchestra. Medina has received her Bachelors in Music Education from University of North Carolina at Greensboro under the direction of Dr. Kelly Burke. Crystal Medina has received her Masters from Manhattan School of Music and Diploma from the Mannes College of Music under the tutelage of Charles Neidich and Ayako Oshima.
