Biography

Flutist Elizabeth Crone has been a frequent performer on Southwest Virginia concert stages since 1994.  Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Crone holds degrees in flute performance from the University of Southern California and the University of Arizona.  She has studied with renowned flutists Julius Baker, Michel Debost, Ann Diener-Giles, James Walker, and Walfred Kujala.  She has taught applied flute at Virginia Tech, Hollins University, Radford University, Bluefield College, and California State University at Humboldt.
    Mrs. Crone has performed on flute and piccolo with the Roanoke Symphony, Opera Roanoke, New River Valley Chamber Winds, Chamber Orchestra of Southwest Virginia, and the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra.  Previously, Mrs. Crone performed with the Tucson Chamber Orchestra.
    Also a regular performer in New River Valley chamber music concerts, Mrs. Crone has performed with the Audubon String Quartet and with mezzo soprano Clarity James of Radford University.  She has performed with her husband, pianist Jay Crone, in recitals in California and Virginia.  Elizabeth Crone currently teaches applied flute at Virginia Tech and is the coordinator of the Live at the Lyric event series for the Lyric Theatre in downtown Blacksburg, Virginia.
