Evert Sillem
studied the violin with Lucy van Dael and Coosje Wijzenbeek. He
continued his studies with Davina van Wely and with Maarten Veeze at the
Amsterdam Conservatory and Philippe Hirschhorn at the Conservatory of
Utrecht. Evert Sillem graduated from the Royal Conservatory, The Hague
(studies with Jaring Walta) and the Royal College of Music, London
studying with renowned violinist and violist Grigori Zhislin. In 1993
Evert graduated from the Royal College of Music receiving his ARCM
Postgraduate diploma. Evert Sillem is an Associate of the the Royal
College of Music. Evert took part in masterclasses with such artisis as
Igor Oistrach, Sylvia Rosenberg, Michael Kugel, Wladimir Kossjanenko,
Asia Kushner, and Oleg Kryssa. Evert has been a member of the first
violin section of the Las Palmas Philharmonic Orchestra (Spain).
Throughout the years Evert has given courses and masterclasses in
Holland and abroad; Spain, Cuba, Croatia, France, Italy and Canada. He
regularly performs with pianists Evelina Vorontsova and Lodewijk
Crommelin. Last concert-season he also performed the Dvorak Romance for
violin and orchestra, Joseph Haydn's violinconcerto in C Major. Evert
has performed with well known Dutch singers and musical-actors such as
Birgit Schuurman, Jim de Groot en Ara Halici en has played the violin in
the Dutch version of the theaterproduction 'The last five years' (music
written by American composer Jason Robert Brown). Pupils of Evert have
won prizes at various Dutch competions. Evert is chief editor of
ARCO-magazine, the journal of the Dutch and Flemish branch of E.S.T.A.
(European String Teachers Association). This past spring and summer 2010
Evert conducted masterclasses in Gerano, Italy and Toronto, Canada.
