Biography

Hannah Morrison studied the piano and singing at the Maastricht Academy of Music and completed her Master Studies for singing with Barbara Schlick at the Academy of Music in Cologne. She has previously undertaken a Masters in performance with Rudolf Piernay at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Further she gained inspiration in masterclasses with Evelyn Tubb and Anthony Rooley, Barthold Kuijken, Andrew Lawrence-King, Sir Thomas Allen, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Matthias Goerne. Hannah is in demand as a soloist, in oratorio as well as lieder. She has worked with many ensembles including Les Arts Florissants under William Christie and L'arte del mondo under Werner Ehrhardt. Lieder recitals include the Chelsea Schubert Festival with Brandon Velarde and Graham Johnson and a Mendelssohn recital at Kings Place with Stephan Loges and Eugene Asti.

In 2009 she took part in the Chicago Ravinia Festival and became a Samling Scholar. For lieder recitals she now has a constant partnership with South African pianist Lara Jones.

Future engagements will bring her to performances a.o. with L'Arpeggiata under Christina Pluhar, Collegium Ad Mosam, Ensemble ’88 and Echo Du Danube, singing in Holland, Germany, France, England, Austria and China.

A CD with songs by Mendelssohn on the Hyperion label has just been released.
