Biography

Born in1981 in Nagano Japan, Hitomi started her piano lessons at age of 5. She was an active accompanist from age 10 to 15, however, due to her left hand pinky’s serious injury, she had to stop her piano playing. Hitomi moved to New York at age of 20 and studied English and music business. She enrolled at City College of New York under Arison Deane 2006, where she was awarded the Josephine & Lester M. Gershen Scholarship. Hitomi continued her studies at the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music as a Master degree student in Piano Performance in 2009, where she studied under Adam Kent. Graduating in 2011, Ms. Honda participated in multiple festivals including the Keyboard Festival by Mannes College of Music as a scholarship holder 2012. Her special interests are in Baroque peirod and the keyboard ornaments. Currently, she is doing research on Baroque era including composers such as J.S Bach and Francois Couperin, and a Schenkerian analysis on Beethoven Piano sonatas. Ms. Honda performed at the 200 Years of Chopin- World Financial Center program in 2010, and performed as a soloist at Shepard Hall in 2009, Karura Hall, Tokyo in 2010, and Brooklyn College 2011.
