Hugh O'Shea is an award winning self-taught composer and pianist from Melbourne, Australia. He first started composing after commencing studies in Music, Drama, Media and Communication and Political Science at Melbourne Polytechnic.

The following year he studied Music, Drama, French and Political Science at La Trobe University. He was awarded a double major in Music and a third major in Political Science in 2003. He completed post graduate studies
in Education in 2007.

Etude No. 1 (opus 13) from his 2008 debut EP Quartet, featuring four of his most requested piano solos, peaked at number two on the ReverbNation Local Classical Music charts. To date, Quartet has received 1.8K video plays
on ReverbNation.

Quartet also receives significant radio airplay in North America, Europe and Australia. It continues to receive numerous views in other countries via his YouTube and other music promotion websites.
After selling out, Quartet was re-released in 2012 and has continued to garner praise from O'Shea's peers and listeners.

In April 2006 his second commissioned work Laudate Dominum (organ, soprano choir and violin) was performed as part of the Mercy Feast for around 5000 parishioners in Melbourne's famous St. Patrick's Cathedral.

The following year
he performed several
of his solo piano works for his largest audience to date of 327 at the Planning Industry Association (PIA) awards night at Storey Hall.

Hugh has two recordings planned for future release; an album of twelve piano solos and a six track EP of ensemble works including his first string quartet In Vincit Veritas.

Among other compositions his main focus has been
composing a Miserere (tenor choir and strings) based on the vulgate version of psalm 49.
