Biography

Cellist Injung Song has been featured at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as a winner of the Artist International New York Debut Award, in the recital series of King’s Chapel in Boston, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as performances at Vienna Musik Hochschule, Seoul Arts Center, and others. She has appeared in the music festivals of Aspen and Yellow Barn, as well as the Mannes Beethoven Institute, the World Cello Congress in Baltimore, and the Banff Center for the Arts in Canada. Ms. Song also won 1st prize at the Music Academy of North Carolina Competition and the Penelope Davis Hart prize of the Philharmonic Society of Arlington Competition.

A native of South Korea, Ms. Song appeared with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of twelve as a winner of the orchestra’s concerto competition. As a concerto soloist, she has performed with a number of Korea’s leading orchestras such as the Korean Broadcasting System Orchestra. 

Injung Song received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University where she studied with David Soyer, founding cellist of the Guarneri Quartet. She holds a Master’s degree from New England Conservatory where she studied with Laurence Lesser, internationally renowned pedagogue, and Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University in Korea. She currently serves on the faculty of Seoul National University.
