Biography

Pianist Jason Alfred is highly sought after as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. He has been guest soloist performing concertos by Brahms, Chopin, Mozart and Rachmaninoff, and won first prize at the Biennial Lee Piano Competition. As a collaborator, he participated in the Cleveland Art Song Festival, and was a fellow at the Music Academy of the West. Mr. Alfred has most recently recorded the violin/piano works of William Grant Still on the Centaur label.

Mr. Alfred completed his doctoral studies at the University of Minnesota. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Ithaca College and a Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he was awarded the Dr. and Mrs. K.L. Wu Piano Prize. In addition, Mr. Alfred earned a performance certificate from the Moscow Conservatoire.                                             

A passionate teacher, Mr. Alfred has taught on the piano faculties of the Riverside Academy of Music, the Cleveland Music School Settlement, and St. Olaf College, and has served as pianist and coach at the Aspen Music Festival, the Bravo! Chamber Music Festival, Cleveland Opera, and the Killington Chamber Music Festival.
