Biography

Born in Azerbaijan, Kamilla Mammedova began her musical training at the age of five with her grandmother,  who was  a professor in the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. A year later she began her formal studies at the Azerbaijan Music School for Gifted  Children, and since then pursued a performance career as a pianist. In 2000, she received her Bachelor of Music Degree from the Azerbaijan Academy of Music with Honours.  Two years later she received her Master’s Degree with Honours from the same institution. From 2004 she was a Graduate student of University of Hartford, Hartt School in the class of piano of  Professor Oxana Yablonskaya. She received her Graduate Professional and Master’s degree from this school.

Mrs. Mammedova has participated in many piano festivals and competitions. She is a laureate of the Azerbaijan Republic Piano Competition for Young Artists (1995), the International Piano Festival in Oxford, England (1999-2000), and participated in several International piano competitions in Italy, Spain (2003), and the Artists International Presentations Auditions (2004). She has participated in master classes and lectures of world-renowned pianists such as O.Yablonskaya, J.B..Pommier, N.Shtarkmnan, and M.Papadopolus. In 2000 she graduated Italian language and Culture courses in Universita per stranieri in Siena (Italy).

Kamilla Mammedova has appeared in solo and chamber ensemble recitals in Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Italy, Spain, Russia, and the United States. In her Native Azerbaijan she gave numerous performances with Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra under the patronage of the Greek, Norwegian, and Italian Embassies in Azerbaijan. She has performed in the Culture Olympic Concert which was dedicated to the Olympic games in 2004 with  patronage from the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and Greece, and the First Lady of Azerbaijan Republic.

In February  2006 she had her successful Solo Debut Recital at Carnegie Hall in NYC.

In 2007 she had another grandioso performance in Yamaha Hall in New York city. This concert was dedicated to Jubilee of legendary Azerbaijan composer Gara Garayev.

This year on December 14th she performed with Beth El Temple symphony orchestra the E.Grieg’s Piano Concerto in West Hartford, CT. These performances were highly acclaimed by press and audience.

Since 2002, Kamilla Mammedova has been a faculty member of the Azerbaijan Academy of Music. In 2004, she began her dissertation research on “International Culture relationships of Azerbaijan Music.”

Kamilla Mammedova is a recipient of many awards and scholarships including C.G.Goldfield Talent award, the I.Kahn Piano Award, the R.Hanson Scholarship, and the Evelyn Bonar Storrs Scholarship.

In present she is a Piano faculty of Hartt School Community Division, Piano accompanist of Vocal Division of Hartt School. She is also Music Director of First Congregational Church of South Windsor, CT.
