Karl Mongrain is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where he studied with pianist Stephan Sylvestre. Other teachers included pianists Jean-François Latour (Université de Sherbrooke) and Denise Trudel (Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Trois-Rivières), from whom he received most of his early training. In addition to his formation as a solo pianist, M. Mongrain has had the pleasure to work regularly as a collaborative pianist for instrumentalists and voice students. Along with Lydia Gasse, violonist, he forms the group Attakka Duo who offers a wide variety of musical styles for varied occasions. (www.attakkaduo.com)
