Larchmere String Quartet, Quartet

Biography

Formed in 2011, the Larchmere String Quartet has been praised as “an outstanding quartet [with] keen sensitivity and receptivity” (Bloomington Herald Times). The Quartet has performed across the continental United States, Europe and Canada, and recent collaborators include Atar Arad, James Dunham, Thomas Josenhans, Michael Kannen, and Wonkak Kim. They have participated in residencies at The Banff Centre in Banff, Canada and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, Italy, where they worked with Gunter Pichler, the former first violinist of the Alban Berg Quartet.

Since 2012, the Quartet has held the faculty position of Eykamp Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Evansville, acting as artists-in-residence and principal players of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. In the summer of 2015, members of LSQ served as artistic directors of the inaugural Harlaxton Chamber Music Festival, held at the University of Evansville’s British campus, Harlaxton College, in Grantham, England.

Equally devoted to music education and performance, the members of the LSQ have previously taught at the University of Illinois, Indiana University, Johns Hopkins University and DePauw University, and given strings and chamber music masterclasses, lectures, and workshops at institutions such as University of Florida, Denver University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Rice University, the University of South Florida, and the University of Southern Maine. They have also served as the quartet-in-residence at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Chamber Music Workshop.
