Biography

Maria Di Pasquale began her musical studies in Milan at “La Scuola Civica” and she obtained a diploma in piano with full marks under the guidance of A. Ferrari in 1986. She specialized mainly with L. Romanini and  A. Tramma. In 1988 she continued her studies in Paris at Conservatoire Europeen (Excelence in 1988)  with A. Fidler and subsequently with Master G. Cziffra in Senlis (France) and  with Lia de Barberijs. She obtained a diploma in harpsichord conferred by Conservatorio di Milano (2001) after her studies with O. Dantone (Conservatorio di Lugano – Switzerland from 1992 to 1996), L. Alvini (Accademia Internazionale di Musica in 1998) K. Gilbert and with R. Laganà in 2002.

She dedicated herself to chamber music through specialized studies with M. Sirbu (1990), C. Chiarappa (1993) W. Sigrist (1993) and N. Brainin with whom she carried on a fertile collaboration. She also studied vocal chamber music with D. Uccello (Italian repertoire) and with A. Fidler (French and German repertoires from 1994 to 1996 in Graz- Austria) and she collaborated as a pianist with R. and F. Patanè , G. Cigna, F. Cavalli and De Bortoli. She was an interpreter of absolute debuts (Morricone, Pasquotti, Greenbaum..) and European debuts of South American authors ( Mignone, Camargo Guanieri, Santoro, Nazareth, Nobre..) for Nuova Consonanza (Roma), Dissonanzen (Napoli). 

She was the first Italian interpreter for C. E. Ives’ full repertoire that allowed her to receive enormous plaudits of critics and audience.

She recorded for many national radio and tv broadcast channels such as Radio Rai 3 (2007), Canale 5, Rete 4 (2000, 2001), Radio Popolare (1996),  Tv Cultura and Radio Camara (Brazil),  in 2007 she was the main guest at the Radio Vaticana direct broadcast  “Venerdì alle 21” and at HRT in 2008.

She recorded “Vidi Aquam” by Ennio Morricone (1993) under the direction of A. Ballista, as well as the cd “Anima Brasiliana” with musical compositions by E. Nazareth released by Pan Pot Records in 2004. She also recorded the cd “Il Sogno di Galileo” with the trio “Arcadia di Roma” released by Radio Trade -2004. She performed with the trio “Contrarco” with whom she was awarded some international prices as “Rovere d'Oro Genova” (1992) and “Prix de Paris” (1992). She collaborates with the Brazilian violinist Tania Camargo and with the trio Arcadia di Roma.

She regularly performs with Catia Capua in a piano duo, the “CROMAPIANODUO”, which focuses on North and South American repertoire and on Italian historical repertoire of the 20th century. She often takes part in chamber music performances as harpsichord player.

She taught various courses on chamber music interpretation and Italian vocal chamber music at the Federal University in Rio de Janeiro (1995), the Federal University in Rio Grande di Norte (1996) and the Federal University in Salvador de Bahia (1997). She worked as a concert season coordinator for the city of Milan, (1993 - 1994), Montecatini (1997), Chiusi Chianciano (1998), and she was the artist director of the music association "Il Chiostro" (Milan 1998 - 1999).

She has been teaching for over 25 years and since 2003 she has been working for the Accademia Internazionale di Musica di Milano where she is currently responsible for the teachers training program in cooperation with Bicocca University. 

In 2010 she has been invited to teach at UNESP in Sao Paulo in Brazil, at Accademia Villa Lobos in Rio de Janeiro and at NEC in the United States.
