Marilynn Bailey started playing piano at the age of 4. She was able to play full chords and audibly copy the music heard on the radio. Her parents were strong Music advocates and knew that she needed piano lessons. Before turning 5, she commenced piano lessons and has been playing since. She has studied with Mrs. Mable Sanford Lewis, Pipe Organ with Dr. Hampton Z. Barker and Dr. Joyce Finch Johnson, Professor Emeritus at Spelman College. Presently, she serves as General Music Teacher/Choral Director at Deerwood Academy. Mrs. Bailey composes and arranges music compositions. She plans to persue a double major at the University of Maryland University College in the fall. She has bee selected by her peers as "Teacher of the Year" at the high, middle and twice at the Elementary level. She has received numerous awards for teaching and performances. Marilynn enjoys teaching and strongly believes that we all are a "work in progress".
