Maureen Zoltek, Piano

Biography

Illinois native Maureen Zoltek is one of the most gifted among the new generation of American pianists. A recent alumna of Lyric Opera’s Ryan Opera Center, she worked extensively with each singer in the program’s Ensemble while also serving on the musical staff of Lyric’s productions of La clemenza di Tito and Tosca.

In Spring 2015, she joined the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis for her first season. She will return to San Francisco Opera in the 2016-17 season to join the music staff fulltime. Her appearances as an orchestral pianist with the CSO have brought her collaborations with such major conductors as Boulez, Conlon, Dudamel, and Gergiev. Her participation in distinguished summer programs include the Aspen Music Festival and School and Santa Barbara’s Music Academy of the West (first prize in the pianist division of the Marilyn Horne Song Competition). Ms. Zoltek’s association with Ms. Horne also includes participation in the legendary mezzo-soprano’s series “The Song Continues” at Carnegie Hall. Among the other star performers with whom she has collaborated are mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato and bass-baritone Eric Owens.

The pianist is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (doctorate), Roosevelt University (master’s degree), and DePaul University (bachelor’s degree). She has received Chicago’s prestigious Luminarts Cultural Foundation fellowship and numerous merit scholarships throughout her education.
