Biography

Pianist Minju Choi has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia as a recitalist, soloist, and
chamber musician, and is the recipient of numerous honors and awards. Ms. Choi was the gold-medalist of the 2003 Nena Wideman
Piano Competition. Her most recent activities include guest appearances with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and also at New
York’s Steinway Hall, Cosmopolitan Club, Studio 54, Florence Gould Hall, and Philadelphia’s Trinity Center for Urban Life. Ms.
Choi’s upcoming performances include a recital at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., as well as in Santa Barbara.

Ms. Choi made her New York concerto debut with the Juilliard Orchestra conducted by Gerard
Schwarz at Avery Fisher Hall. She has been the recipient of top awards in the ARTS/NFAA National Competition and the MTNA
Competition. Ms. Choi has participated in several music festivals including Santa Barbara’s Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music
School, Juilliard’s FOCUS!, Pianofest in the Hamptons, and L’Academie Internationale de Musique of France.

A strong advocate of contemporary music, Ms. Choi has premiered and performed music by composers such as David Diamond, Philip Lasser, and
Salvatore Sciarrino. Recently, Ms. Choi gave the world premier of Brett Abigana’s Piano Concerto Litany
and Satire
and performed once again with the Juilliard Orchestra. During a recent trip to Paris, Ms.
Choi premiered Philip Lasser’s piano sonata The White Owls in a special performance at Schola Cantorum. Ms. Choi’s collaboration with noted
choreographer Diane Fay resulted in the New York premier of Lasser’s piano sonata, the centerpiece of a stunning modern dance work presented at Lincoln Center.

Ms. Choi recently received her Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School, where she also received her undergraduate degree, studying with Jerome Lowenthal.
