Misato Yokoyama, classical pianist
Biography
Misato Yokoyama is a Japanese pianist. Born in Obihiro, she began playing the piano at the age of four. In 1991 she won first prize at the PTNA Competition in Tokyo and was awarded a full scolarship to the RAM in London, where she studied with Maria Curcio. She graduated with distinction, receiving an award for best postgraduate pianist of the year. Her debut CD was acclaimed in major musical magazines and it was given HMV's 'Young Artist of the Year' award in 1998. Misato Yokoyama has performed in Japan, Europe, North and South America. She has appeared with various symphony orchestras and has recorded several chamber music and solo CDs.
