Biography

Peter Maxwell Land was born in Chicago to a British father and Peruvian mother. At the age of five he began his piano studies, which have lead him to learn with Douglas Finch, Yonty Solomon, Dr. Michael Injae Kim, Joanna MacGreggor, Bernard Roberts and Andrew Zolinsky.

Performing commitments in London started with his solo debut in 1998 through a charity recital for the Anglo-Peruvian Society of Europe. Subsequently he has performed throughout the Trinity College of Music venues including two performances at the New Quays Contemporary Music Festival. Other engagements include the Concert Hall, Recital Hall, Durrington Room, and Parry Room at the Royal College of Music; Blackheath Halls, Churches of St. Olave, St. James, St. Lawrence Jewry and St. Mary Abbots, the Regents Hall on Oxford Street and the Beaulieu Festival in Brighton. Outside of the UK his engagements include performances at the Lawrence Memorial Chapel and Harper Hall, Appleton, the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, and Curtiss Hall, Chicago and the Auditório da Orquestra Metropolitana, Lisbon (Portugal).

Since October 2003 Peter has been living in Cologne, Germany where he is actively working as a pianist with various singers in Classical, Cabaret and Jazz styles, as well as a composer for the Cologne Theater company "1000 Herz." The 2005-6 season includes engagements in Cologne at the Burgerhaus Kalk, Neumart Gallery, ARTheater, and the Theater am Sachsenring. Also included in the season is a recital in Eidhoven, Holland, with Argentinian singer Rafa Montero at the Workshop for Hetty van der Linden international dutch painter who has setup a series of charity events called 'paint-a-future'. Proceeds will go to build a new institute for deaf children in Jujuy, Argentina.
