Biography

A recent graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, Ms. Henry appeared with the Janiec Opera Company as Zita in Gianni Schicci, Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, and Third Spirit in Magic Flute at the Brevard Music Center during the 2008 and 2009 summer seasons. Ms. Henry will be returning to Brevard this coming summer to perform the role of Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with the Janiec Opera Company.  At the Shepherd School of Music, Ms. Henry performed as Charlene in Street Scene and as Fury in La Calisto. She has appeared on numerous occasions as a soloist with the Rice Chorale, singing Alto solos in Honegger’s King David, Bach Magnificat, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, and Mozart Requiem. Ms. Henry is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards including the Robert and Rachel Ames Prize, and the John and Sally Cox Prize. In 2007 she was awarded the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston’s Voice Scholarship, and has received honorable Mention in the Sue Goetz Ross Competition. Ms Henry plans to attend graduate school in the fall for Opera and Voice.
