Biography

    Twenty-three year old Israeli pianist Roman Rabinovich is the winner of the 2008 Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. Roman was already praised by critics for the "vivacity and virtuosity" and "the impeccable clarity of execution" and has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Israel in such prestigious venues as Leipzig's Gewandhaus, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie's Weill Hall, the Metropolitan Museum, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory and Glazunov Hall in St. Petersburg, as well as on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, Salle Cortot in Paris and in the Millennium Stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.  At age 10 he made his Israel Philharmonic Orchestra debut under the baton of Zubin Mehta, and performed with that orchestra and Maestro Mehta again in 1999 and 2003. He has performed as a soloist with most Israeli orchestras (including Israel Philharmonic, Rishon-Lizion, Jerusalem, Haifa, Raanana Symphony orchestras), the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (NY), Ann Arbor Symphony (MI), Delaware symphony (DE), Ashland Symphony (OH), Neuchatel Chamber Orchestra (Switzerland), Moscow Conservatory Chamber orchestra and many others.

   He is a winner of the top prize and four additional awards, including the prestigious Mezzo Award at the 12th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Israel, the Rafi Gouralnik and the Meira Gera audience prizes at the Aviv Competition in Israel, the Animato and the Arjil Piano Competitions in Paris, Frank Peleg Piano Competition, the annual Tel Aviv Music Academy competition, as well as "Vendome Virtuosi" prize and second prize at the Olga Koussevitsky competition in NYC, the young orchestral soloists of the Delaware Symphony competition and received financial support from Tzfunot Tarbut, as well as scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation from 1996 to 2004. He has participated in international festivals such as, Ravinia's Steans Institute, Verbier Academy in Switzerland, Conservatoire Week in St. Petersburg, Russia, Felicia Blumental Festival in Tel-Aviv, Israel, and Israel Festival. He was featured on radio and TV in numerous occasions in Israel (Kol HaMusica), Italy, Germany, and the United States (including the biggest classical station in NY, WQXR).   

   2008-09 engagements include solo recitals and orchestral performances in such venues as Carnegie's Weill Hall, and Wigmore Hall as well as Rubinstein Piano Festival in Poland, Deutschlandsberger Klavierfrühling, Austria, appearances in Davos Festival, televised recital for Mezzo channel in France, and concert tours in France, United States and Israel.

   2009-10 season includes performances of Mozart A major concerto with the Buffallo Philharmonic, and Beethoven's Emperor concerto with the Haifa Symphony as well as Saint-Seans 2nd concerto with the Rishon Lezion Symphony, appearances at the Carnegie Hall and tours in Poland and with the Ravinia Musicians.

     Roman Rabinovich, born in 1985 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, began his piano studies at the age of six with his mother, Mira. In 1994, he and his parents immigrated to Israel where he studied with Irena Vishnevitsky and later with professor Arieh Vardi at the Rubin Academy of Music in Tel Aviv. He is a graduate of The Curtis Institute of Music as a student of Seymour Lipkin. Roman is currently pursuing his master's degree with Robert McDonald at the Juilliard School.

 Roman also excels as a gifted artist and has won prizes as a painter. He often combines his concerts with exhibitions of his paintings. From October 06 till March 07 the Brigham Young University in Jerusalem hosted an exhibition that includes Roman's paintings, his works were also shown at the Good Shepherd Church, in NYC and in the Philadelphia area.
