Biography

Pianist Sandra Mogensen has performed widely in concert as soloist and accompanist in Canada, the United States, and Europe.  Noted for her deep sensitivity to the soloist’s every breath and nuance, Sandra has received much praise for her work as a recitalist committed to the art song repertoire as well as for her solo performances.
Recent performances include collaborations in recital with singers James Westman, Brett Polegato, Gary Relyea, Anna Tamm, Catherine and Mark Gardner, and solo performances at the Glenn Gould Studio, the Grieg Festival in Winter Park, Florida, the Niagara International Chamber Music Festival, and the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Stratford Civic Orchestra.  Her first solo CD release, SANDRA MOGENSEN:  Piano Music of Edvard Grieg has been resoundingly praised:

Devoted to her role as educator, Sandra works as a vocal coach, specializing in coaching art song, operatic roles, oratorio, and musical theatre.  Well-versed in German, French, Italian, Danish, and Latvian, Ms. Mogensen is known for her language and diction coaching.  
Sandra Mogensen has performed much chamber music repertoire and holds the position of Faculty Pianist at the annual National Music Camp on Lake Couchiching.  A versatile musician, Sandra also has extensive experience with musical theatre and choral repertoire, as well as music in liturgy.
Sandra Mogensen did her early musical studies with her mother, Edite Mogensen, in Sarnia, Ontario.  Sandra’s training as a pianist has taken her to the University of Western Ontario studying with Dr. Damjana Bratuz, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen with Friedrich Gürtler and to Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey for a Masters Degree in Vocal Accompanying and Coaching, where her teachers were Dalton Baldwin and J.J.Penna.
Ms. Mogensen has had an extensive teaching career and has held positions at the Royal Conservatory of Music, the Etobicoke School of the Arts, Conrad Grebel College at the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and at the Peddie School in New Jersey.  Active as an adjudicator and workshop clinician across Canada, Sandra Mogensen is also a Senior Examiner at the Royal Conservatory of Music Examinations Department.  Sandra continues to work with intermediate and advanced piano students at her private studio in Stratford, Ontario.
