Stanislav Khristenko, Piano

Biography

Born in Kharkov, Ukraine in 1984, pianist Stanislav Khristenko's early education took place in his home town, followed by the Moscow Chopin College.  In 2008, he graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory where he studied with Vera Gornostaeva, Maxim Philippov, and Daria Petrova. He is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Sergei Babayan.

Mr. Khristenko's international honors include the Horowitz Competition in Kiev, the Safonov in Russia, Chopin for Youth in Poland, the Karamanov in Ukraine, and Tchaikovsky for Youth in St. Petersburg, Russia.  He has won first prizes in competitions in Italy (Agropoli 1997, Naples 2005, Barletta, 2006, Gravina 2006, Cantu 2010), in Slovakia (1999), Greece (2004), and the United States (the Wideman in Shreveport, the Bosendorfer in Tempe, the Virginia Waring in Palm Desert, and most recently the Jose Iturbi in Los Angeles). He won 2nd Prize in the Tongyeong International Competition in South Korea in 2008, the Takamatsu International Piano Competition in Japan in 2006, and 3rd Prize in the Cleveland International Piano Competition in 2005.

Mr. Khristenko has appeared as a soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra, Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonic Orchestra "Mihail Jora" in Romania, the Berliner Musikfreunde Orchestra, Takamatsu Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Conservatory Orchestra, and others.

He has given concerts in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Japan, Hong Kong, Russia, Ukraine, and the United States. He made his Carnegie Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall in October 2009 where his performance was described as "sparkling like a gem, honed to perfection." The Cleveland Plain Dealer cited his performance of the great Schubert C minor Sonata as "a deeply spiritual performance with great individuality. His Prokofiev Second Sonata in that same recital was a tour-de-force of technical, musical and stylistic mastery."  His 2010 engagements include the Phillips Collection Recital Series in Washington, D.C and a recital in the Schubertsaal in Vienna. 

Stanislav Khristenko is the recipient of grants from the Spivakov International Charity Foundation, the Rostropovich Foundation, and the Russian Performance Art Foundation.

His CD recordings have been released in the Netherlands, Germany, and Russia.
