Tim Sawyier, 18, graduated from the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools last
month, and is presently studying at the Aspen Music Festival. In the fall he will move to Philadelphia to begin his studies at the Curtis
Institute of Music as a student of Richard Woodhams. Tim has served as principal oboe for the Chicago Youth Symphony and its Encore
Chamber Orchestra. As a soloist, he received honors from the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, the Union League
Civic and Arts Foundation, the Music Teachers’ National Association, Interlochen Arts Camp, and Midwest Young Artists, and
presented concertos with the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Youth Concert Orchestra, and the Birch Creek Symphony. As a
chamber musician, Tim twice won the Rembrandt Chamber Players Competition. He performed on the national radio show From the Top
with the Mephisto Trio, and was featured on CBS Television.
