Biography

Praised for her commanding stage presence and elegant musicianship, Woobin Park has appeared throughout the United States and South Korea in solo and chamber recitals as well as performances as soloist with orchestra. She has performed in distinguished concert venues including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall in New York, and Strathmore Hall in Washington D.C., the Elizabeth Horowitz Performing Arts Center and Montpelier Arts Center in Maryland, the Tedmann Concert Hall in Minneapolis, and the Auer Concert Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.

In the 2009-2010 season, she was honored to perform two piano concerts with acclaimed pianist Lydia Artymiw at Steinway Hall New York and at the Seoul Arts Center Recital Hall, South Korea’s most prestigious concert venue. In 2011, she presented a solo recital dedicated to Liszt’s bicentennial celebration at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul and Fort Washington Harmony Hall in Washington D.C.  During the 2012-2013 season, she was selected as a performer for the recording project “The 23 greatest solo piano works” with Professor Robert Greenberg. She also appeared as a soloist for the 2013 Rising Stars Award at the Peter & Elizabeth Horowitz Performing Arts Center in Maryland.

Ms. Park has been a member of the St. Thomas Trio.  The highlight of the 2014 season was the world premier performance of “Cordoba” for solo piano and concert band by American composer, Julie Giroux, at PAC Main Stage with the Winona Symphonic Wind Orchestra.

She is a winner of numerous competitions including the Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, where she was also awarded “Best Performance of the Required Work,” the San Nicola di Bari International Piano Competition in Italy, the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition, the University of Minnesota Concerto Competition, and the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music.

Ms. Park holds a Master of Music degree and Performer's Diploma from Indiana University Bloomington, where she studied with Edward Auer and Shigeo Neriki, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, studying with Distinguished McKnight Professor Lydia Artymiw.

As an educator, Ms. Park has given master classes at Truman State University in Kirkville, Missouri, and was also invited to serve as a jury member for the finals of the 2014 MTNA Young Artist Competition-Wisconsin and Senior Piano Duet Competition. In 2013, Ms. Park was invited to join the faculty of Winona State University as Visiting Assistant Professor of Piano, teaching applied piano lessons and collaborative piano.
