Biography

Pianist John (Yoahn) Kwon, a native of South Korea, has won critical acclaim for his deep
musicianship, sensitivity and rare insight.  He has made a strong impression at venues such
as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Town Hall, Steinway Hall,
Kosciusko Foundation, and the United Nations in New York. He has appeared throughout the United States, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands as a recitalist, chamber musician, and
concerto soloist. Recently, Mr. Kwon presented two different and unique
programs honoring Vladimir Horowitz, performing on Maestro Horowitz's own
touring Steinway Grand Piano.

In the 2007-2009 seasons, Mr. Kwon has
been heard in a series of guest recitals at Harper College, Judson College in Illinois, Steinway of Chicago, Nichols Hall of Music
Institute of Chicago, Chicago's Pianoforte Fazioli Salon and St. Paul Chapel at
Columbia University in New
York, and has
appeared in Indianapolis, Columbus,
and Washington DC as a recitalist. His most recent international recitals
include at Brussels' historical Musée
des Instruments de Musique, Robert-Schumann-Saal in Düsseldorf, and at the Seoul Arts Center. In the summers of 2007, 2008, and 2009, Mr. Kwon participated at Orford Center for Arts in Canada, Academie Internationale d'Ete de Nice, and the Music
Alp in Courchevel, and also participated in the 50th anniversary of
the Beethoven Masterkurs in Positano, Italy, under the auspices of the Fondazione
Culturale Wilhelm Kempff.  At the
anniversary program, concert highlights and interviews with Mr. Kwon were
filmed by the national broadcasting company of Dublin.

As a chamber musician and a
collaborator, Mr. Kwon is a winner of the Young Musician's Competition of the  Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and
collaborated with singers of Metropolitan Opera, members of the New York
Philharmonic, and the Dresden Statskappelle. He has received many awards and
scholarships, including an award from the Jerry Seinfeld Family Foundation.

Mr. Kwon began piano studies at the
age of nine and studied at the Pre-College Division of the Juilliard School and earned his Bachelor and Master's degree from Mannes College of
Music where he studied piano with Diane
Walsh. Mr. Kwon currently studies with John O'Connor, Jacques Rouvier and Max Wilcox.
