Biography

Composer and pianist Nailah Nombeko, a native of New York, comes from a musical family. She attended the Preparatory Division of Manhattan School of Music, LaGuardia High School (Music and Art) and she received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Mannes College of Music. Her works were performed by many top performers such as: Craig Ketter, Keve Wilson, Shannon Roberts and the Orfeo Duo among others.

Ms Nombeko's music has been performed at Symphony Space, Columbia University, St Peter's Church as well as other venues. Her songs were featured on Classical Discoveries 103.3 FM, Radio Arts Indonesia, What's Next Radio 91.1 FM, Hildegard to Hildegard in the U.K. and Radio Monalisa in the Netherlands.

In 2013 Ms Nombeko's sound art was featured in the Museruole festival in Italy.

She curated a two-concert collaboration between Vox Novus and the New York Women Composers in March/April 2014. Both concerts received good reviews from New Music for the 21st Century and Sound Word Sight.

Nailah Nombeko is a member of the New York Women Composers, New York Composers Circle, Vox Novus and The African American Art Song Alliance. She is also a member of the board for "What A Neighborhood" with the Orfeo Duo.
