Zak Tschiniak, Trombone

Biography

Zak Tschiniak is a cum laude graduate of the School of Music of Butler University.  He began his musical studies at a young age in the Kindermusik curriculum and continued studying piano and trombone through high school and currently studies these instruments at the university level.  As a bass trombonist, he is under the tutelage of Jared Rodin, performing in the Butler Symphony Orchestra and the Butler University Wind Ensemble.  His talents on the trombone made him a finalist in the 2009 School of Music concerto competition.  Hailing from Peru, Indiana, Zak has performed extensively in his home community as piano soloist, church musician, trombone soloist, and member of various ensembles, including the Circus City Festival Band.  He is a regular performer for the annual Cole Porter Festival each June in Peru.  After high school, Zak began his collegiate studies at Butler University, aspiring to teach at the university level.  At Butler, Zak is involved with the University Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and athletic Bands.  He maintains membership in the professional music fraternity Pi Kappa Lambda and the men’s music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.  One of Butler’s Top 10 male students in 2009, Zak is also a Theodore Presser Foundation Scholar.  He looks forward to a future as a secondary music educator and a performing musician.
