Biography

Equally at home as a soloist, collaborative pianist and an educator, Alice Ji has been enjoying a diverse career in the United States and Korea. She received her Master’s degree from University of Colorado, Boulder, where she was awarded a full graduate assistantship as an accompanist. While at CU-Boulder, she appeared at numerous recitals both as a soloist and a collaborative pianist. An advocate of modern music, Ms. Ji was invited to perform at Pendulum new music concert series at CU. She was also selected to perform at multiple master classes including Pascal Rogé, Barbara Lister-Sink, Robert Weirich, and Christopher Harding. A prizewinner of MTNA Colorado State Division and Mu Phi Epsilon Mu Phi Epsilon Delta Rho Chapter competition, she was a recipient of numerous scholarship awards from Dongduk Women’s University in Korea, Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Foundation, and Brevard Music Center. Ms. Ji’s additional studies include at Brevard Summer Music Festival where she performed at the Concerto Marathon, at Faber Piano Institute under Marienne Uszler and Nancy & Randal Faber, and at the Fifth Piano Celebration at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

 

As a dedicated educator, addition to her years of experience as a private instructor, Alice Ji frequently held lectures on Piano Adventures method at numerous universities pedagogy classes across South Korea. She was also engaged in a music publisher in Korea and co-translated America’s piano pedagogical publications into Korean, such as Succeeding with the Masters Classical Era by Helen Marlais among others.

 

Ms. Ji studied with renowned pianists including Hue-Am Park (professor at Chung-Ang University in Korea), Hyo Sun Na (professor at Dongduk Women’s University in Korea), and Dr. Andrew Cooperstock at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her collaborative piano coaches were Robert Spillman and Anne Epperson. She is currently a faculty member at the Academy of Fine Arts and the International School of Music in Washington D. C. metro area.
