Biography

Pianist Allegra Chapman is a versatile young artist whose burgeoning career has led to performances in places as varied as Morocco, Hungary, the East Coast and her native California.

An avid chamber musician, Ms. Chapman has been heard at many chamber music festivals and concert series including the Bard Music Festival with violist Stephen Tenenbaum and the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Chapman enjoys performing on various keyboard instruments including the fortepiano, harpsichord, and celeste and her passion for contemporary music has led her to premier the works of several young composers. She has also tried her hand at composing, working with John Halle and Joan Tower.

As a member of the first class at the Bard College Conservatory of Music, Ms. Chapman earned both a BM in piano performance and a BA in Middle Eastern History. She currently studies with Seymour Lipkin at The Juilliard School where she is pursuing a masters degree as a recipient of the John and Eva Post Scholarship and the Bernard and Leigh Seder Scholarship.
