Biography

 Erica Morelli is gaining international recognition for her vocal and acting abilities. “Her winning combination of beautiful tone, artistic sensitivity, and superlative stagecraft have served to make Ms. Morelli a highly sought after singing actress” (Critic’s Point).

The 2012/2013 season marked Ms. Morelli’s debut in the title role of Salome with the Aegean Festival. Other highlights of the season include Ms. Morelli’s concert debut at The Athenaeum in Athens, Greece and her debut with the National Symphony of Albania. 

Ms. Morelli has sung several roles including the title role in Suor Angelica; Countess Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro); Marguerite (Faust); Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni); Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte); Mimi (La Boheme), Musetta (La Boheme), Alice Ford (Falstaff), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus); Micaela (Carmen); Susannah (Susannah); Natalie (Month in the Country); Hanna Glawari (The Merry Widow); Pamina (The Magic Flute); and Erste Dame (Die Zauberflote).

A native of Illinois, Ms. Morelli’s professional concert debut was as the Soprano Soloist in Beethoven’s Egmont with the Sinfonia da Camera. Equally at home on the stage and in concert, Ms. Morelli has continued to perform as a soloist with several notable orchestras, including The National Symphony of Albania and The Charlemagne Orchestra of Belgium.

Ms. Morelli has performed in several venues throughout the world including St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy; The Lincoln Center in New York City; The Apollo Theater in Greece; The Athenaeum in Athens, Greece;The Volksoper in Weimar, Germany; The Staat Theatre in Brugge, Belgium; The Magdalenazaal in Brugge, Belgium; The Urbania City Theater in Italy; and The Grenada Theater in Spain. 

Ms. Morelli has been named a Finalist in several competitions including: The Bel Canto Competition, The Elardo Competition, The Arts and Letters Competition, and in addition to placing at The Metropolitan National Council Auditions, Ms. Morelli also received The Audience Choice Award.

In addition, Ms. Morelli has been the recipient of several scholarships and awards: Indiana University Dean’s Music Merit Award, Scuola Italia La Musica Scholarship, University of Illinois Graduate Music Assistantship, and The St. Louis University Madrid Spanish Song Scholarship.

Ms. Morelli was an Apprentice Artist at The Illinois Opera Theater, New Jersey Opera Theater, Weimar Opera Studio, and The Intermezzo Foundation Elardo Young Artist Program.

Erica Morelli attended Indiana University, New England Conservatory, Boston University, and The University of Illinois. Ms. Morelli currently holds a Bachelor of
Music, Master of Music, Artist Diploma, and Doctor of Music.
