Biography

Born in Korea in 1985, Hanna Lee began playing the viola as a student of Prof. Soon Wha Oh at the Korean National University of Arts, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in 2004. After finishing her studies in Korea, she moved to the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, USA where she received a Performance Diploma under Roberto Diaz, later moving to the New England Conservatory in Boston, completing a Master's Degree under Prof. Kim Kashkashian in 2009.

Hanna Lee has been honoured with numerous awards in various competitions, including top prizes at the Osaka International Competition in Japan and Hellam Young Artist Competition. Hanna Lee has also performed as soloist with the Korean National University of Arts Symphony Orchestra, and with the Walton Viola Concerto at Jordan Hall in Boston.

As a member of Kumho Asiana Soloists, has also appeared in the Kumho Cultural Foundation's Young Artist Recital Series, and at the Bowdoin International Music Festival and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. In the summers of 2006 and 2008, Hanna Lee participated in the Verbier Festival and in 2010 Hanna performed at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, alongside Atar Arad, Kim Kashkashian, Thomas Riebl, and Miriam Fried. In 2011 she was invited to participate in the Marlboro Festival, where she worked with Colin Carr, Peter Wiley and Charles Neidich.

Hanna Lee joined Kronberg Academy Further Masters studies in October 2011, studying with Professor Nobuko Imai.
