Biography

Pianist Jimmy Briere is winner of the First Prize at the 1997 International Hong Kong Piano Competition, winner of the 1996 Porto International Piano Competition, the First Prize winner of the 1994 National Festival of Music CIBC (Canada) and Prize Winner of the 2001 CBC Radio National Competition for Young Performers. As a recitalist, he has appeared at the Banff Centre for the Arts, at the Pro Musica Series at the Place des Arts in Montreal, and at the 20th anniversary of Musique de Chambre at Ste-Pétronille (Québec). He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Université de Montréal as well as Artist Diplomas from Toronto's Glenn Gould Professional School of Music and Bloomington's Indiana University. He studied with Marc Durand, Menahem Pressler, Leon Fleisher and André Laplante. He is currently guest professor at the Université de Montréal (Canada).
