Biography

Pianist Lora Tchekoratova has appeared as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe. Recently she was the featured artist of a documentary broadcast by the Bulgarian National Television. At age 21 she won the top prize of the Washington International Competition for pianists. Subsequently, Ms. Tchekoratova made her debut at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, performing Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2, and made recital appearances at the Phillips Collection (broadcast over WGTS-FM) as well as in Alexandria, Chicago, Minneapolis, and many other cities. She is a frequent soloist with the Lyric Orchestra in New Jersey and the New Symphony Orchestra in Sofia, Bulgaria. A former student of Seymour Lipkin, Ms. Tchekoratova holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Juilliard School. As an active advocate of Bulgarian music, Ms. Tchekoratova is the executive coordinator for the concert series Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York. She serves on the faculty of the 92nd Street Y School of Music and the Kneisel Hall Adult Chamber Music Institute in Blue Hill, Maine.
