Biography
International Soloist Narek Arutyunian was born in Armenia in 1992.When Narek was 10, he took the clarinet in his hands for the first time ever. A graduate of the Central Music School in Moscow, where he studied with Evgeny Petrov. He also studied at the Moscow State Conservatory (2009-2010) at Queens College at the CUNY (2010-2011). Since 2011 he has been studying at the Juilliard School with Charles Neidich
As soloist Narek has appeared with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (SOCR) , Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio, Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of New Russia, Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra Kremlin, Kaliningrad Philharmonic, Queens College and Musica Viva Chamber Orchestras. He has performed in recital at such prestigious venues as the Carnegie Hall in New York, the Louvre in Paris, Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto , Palazzo del Principe in Genoa, The Museum of Grenoble, Kaliningrad Philharmonic Hall, Teatro Savio in Messina, Chamber Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic Society, Glendale Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. Narek has collaborated with conductors and instrumentalists such as Vladimir Fedoseyev, Vladimir Spivakov, Saulius Sondeckis, Yuri Bashmet, Misha Rakhlevsky, Alexander Kobrin, Alexander Rudin, Charles Neidich, Boris Brovtsyn , Alexander Apolin.
Narek has performed numerous concerts major concert halls all throughout Europe and North America Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris, Rudolfinum - Dvorak Hall in Prague, United Nations Hall in Geneve, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, George Weston Recital Hall in Toronto, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, St.Petersburg Philharmonic Hall, Svetlanov’s Hall of the Moscow International House of Music, Kaufmann Hall in New York. “Mozart et Tchaikovsky” International Music Festival in Paris, Concertino Praga South Bohemia Festival, the Homecoming in Moscow.
In recent seasons Narek performed in various cities of Russia, USA, Canada, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Czech Republic, Poland and Belarus. His performances have been broadcast on Deutschlandradio Kultur (Germany), Radio "Classique" (France), WXQR - The Classical Music Station of NYC 105.9 (USA), Toronto's Classical 96.3 (Canada) Radio"Orpheus" (Russia), Czech Classical Radio "Vltava", Radio "Russia"
Narek was awarded top prizes at the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in New York (First Prize, 2010), International Radio Competition “Concertino Praga” in Prague, Czech Republic (First Prize,2008), Rotary Club Moscow International Music Children Competition in Moscow, Russia (Grand Prix,2005), International Television Contest for Young Musicians in Moscow (First Prize – Golden Nutcrkacker, a Prize of Yuri Bashmet to perform with the State Symphony Orchestra of New Russia and to record a CD as its soloist at the Hall of Kultura TV Channel,2005) International Competition for Young musicians "Music Youth of the Planet" in Moscow (First Prize, 2007),International Competition for Young Musicians “Prazsky Hvezdopad” in Prague, Czech Republic (Grand Prix, 2008).
