Biography

Sarah Coburn began the 2005-2006 season as Oscar in Opera Company of Philadelphia's production of Un Ballo in Maschera, followed by her Avery Fisher Hall debut in Carmina Burana with the National Chorale. Ms. Coburn made her Seattle Opera debut as Adele in Die Fledermaus in January, followed by a recital presented by the Civic Music Association of Oklahoma City in March. In April, she sings Amenaide in Tancrediwith Washington Concert Opera. In May, Ms. Coburn returns to Chicago Opera Theater as Blondchen in The Abduction from the Seraglio, followed by her Cincinnati Opera debut as Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera and Olympia in Les Contes d'Hoffmann in the summer of 2006. In 2007, Ms. Coburn will sing the role of Kitty in the world premiere of Anna Karenina at Florida Grand Opera and Opera Theater of Saint Louis.

Ms.Coburn's 2004-05 season included a return to New York City Opera as Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites. She made her debut with Chicago Opera Theater as Angelo in La Resurrezione and returned to Florida Grand Opera as Oscar in Un Ballo in maschera. Ms. Coburn also sang Handel's Messiah with the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes. In the summer of 2005, she sang the title role in Lucia de Lammermoor in her return to Glimmerglass Opera.

In the 2003-04 season, Sarah Coburn performed Joanna in Sweeney Todd in her debut with New York City Opera, Adina in L'Elisir d'amore with Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Gilda in Rigoletto with Indianapolis Opera, and the title role in Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience with Glimmerglass Opera. Ms. Coburn also made her Metropolitan Opera debut as the First Bridesmaid in Le Nozze di Figaro.

Ms. Coburn was a Winner of the 2004 George London Foundation Awards, a 2004 recipient of a Sara Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation, a 2004 Jensen Foundation Award Winner, a 2003 Liederkranz Foundation Award Winner, a 2002 Opera Index Career Grant recipient, and was a National Grand Finalist in the 2001 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She received a Master of Music degree from Oklahoma City University and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oklahoma State University.
