Biography

In April 2005, 25-year-old Yingdi Sun won First Prize at the prestigious International Franz Liszt Piano Competition, in Utrecht. This led to a two-year concert tour in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition to many appearances in leading Dutch concert halls, he will perform in France, Belgium, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Great Britain, Indonesia, China, New Zealand, Singapore, United States and South Africa. As a concerto soloist, Yingdi Sun has performed in Amsterdam's Concertgebouw with the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra. He was recently the guest of the Chinese President as part of the festivities for the visit of President George Bush to China.

Shanghai-born Yingdi Sun's prizes in his native China included the Golden Bell Award at the Second National Piano Competition. In 2004, he was awarded a grant from Yamaha to present chamber music concerts with prize winners from the International Paganini Violin Competition and Tchaikovsky International Music Competition. Yingdi Sun studied with Professor Sheng Yi-qi at the Conservatory of Music in Shanghai and has participated in master classes of Philippe Entremont, Xu Zhong and Leslie Howard.
