Biography
Chu Yue was born in Tianjin, China in 1984. He was introduced to the piano at three years of age by his mother who is a vocal teacher. At the age of 10, Chu Yue was one of the youngest conductors chosen to work with the Youth Future Star Orchestra and Choir of China. In 2000, Chu Yue attended his first of three Morningside Music Bridge Programs, at The Mount Royal College Conservatory in Calgary and performed in the final Gala Concert.
In May 2001, Chu Yue was invited to participate in the Seiler Piano Music Festival in Germany. After attending his second Morningside Music Bridge Program in July, he received sponsorship enabling him to pursue his musical studies in Canada at The Mount Royal College Conservatory with Professor Hung-Kuan Chen & Tema Blackstone, and was also continuing his academic education.
Chu Yue has distinguished himself at The Kiwanis Music Festival held in Calgary, winning many Solo and Chamber Ensemble Classes as well as Provincial/National Categories. In March 2004, Chu Yue won the prestigious Rose Bowl title, awarded to the most outstanding performer of the competition. In August 2004, he has participated in the National Music Festival in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was not only the winner of the Piano Solo, but also, together with his trio, were the winner of the Chamber Ensemble.
Chu Yue misses his family and friends in China very much but has been enjoying his experiences in Canada. In September 2004, he continued his academic and musical studies with Professor Russell Sherman at the New England Conservatory of Music where he received a full scholarship and was one of the Presidential Prize in NEC for 2004-2005 year. Chu Yue enjoys the life in Boston very much.
