Biography

Pianist EunAe Lee was born in Seoul, Korea, and attended Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School before moving to the United States in 2004. In Korea, she presented her solo debut at age 14, performing the Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Bong Kim. She later went on to collect an impressive number of prizes, including the Korea Times National Piano Competition, the CBS Radio National Piano Competition, and the Sook-Myung University Piano Competition, among many others.

As a winner of the Karlfied Normann Scholarship Competition in NYC, she received a full scholarship at the Juilliard Pre-college. She later received L.& M. Burle Scholarship, William Petschek Scholarship, Susan W. Rose Piano Fellowship, G. G. Ulmer Memorial Scholarship, Joseph Louis Spencer & Zylpha Allen Spencer Scholarship and Alice D. Netter Scholarship at the Juilliard School, where she was one of a select few students who enrolled in Juilliard's prestigious five-year accelerated Bachelor's and Master's degree program, studying with Martin Canin. While studying at Juilliard, she won the Mozart Concerto Competition, and she performed with the Juilliard Orchestra in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in 2010. She earned her Artist Diploma at the Mannes College New School for Music, studying with renownedpianist Richard Goode.

Ms. Lee has performed at the Pianoforte Foundation Series, broadcast live on WFMT 98.7 FM. She was also featured on Radio Classical 89.1 & 89.5 FM . Performance highlights include solo and chamber appearances in Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, Merkin Hall, Flushing Town Hall, and the Mannes Concert Hall, among others.

She has performed in the masterclasses of Jonathan Biss, Alfred Brendel, Olivier Gardon, Piotr Paleczny, Robert McDonald, Matti Raekallio, Cecile Ousset, Richard Goode, Lang Lang, Julian Martin, Yong Hi Moon, Garrick Ohlsson, John Perry, and Murray Perahia. She has studied chamber music with Peter Basquin, Earl Carlyss, Rohan De Silva, Joseph Kalichstein, Lewis Kaplan, Seymour Lipkin, Kenneth Merrill, Constance Moore, and Emma Tahmiziàn.

Ms. Lee won 2nd Prize and the Yehuda Meir Memorial Award for the most outstanding artistic performance of an étude of Chopin in the 2015 Bösendorfer USASU International Piano Competition and 3rd prize in the 2014 Hilton Head Competition. In 2011, she was one of four finalists in The ARD International Music Competition in Munich, where she performed the Beethoven Concerto No.3 with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 2016, she received 2nd Prize in the World Piano Teachers Association International Piano Competition.
