The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires           Astor Piazzolla

Verano Porteño

Astor Piazzolla was born in Argentina in 1921 and is considered one of the most important people in the history of the Tango.  He was a virtuoso performer on the bandoneon and composed many pieces for the ensembles in which he played. His nuevo tango style of composition is distinct from traditional tango in its incorporation of elements of jazz.

Today's concert includes two of his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires-Summer and Autumn in an arrangement for piano trio by José Bragato. Keep in mind that the seasons in the southern hemisphere are opposite to those in the northern hemisphere.    The Lincoln Trio
