Biography

The Valtchev-Tchekoratova Duo was founded on a mutual commitment to the violin and piano repertoire, both standard and adventurous. Bringing together two Bulgarian musicians and distinguished Juilliard graduates, the Duo has performed throughout the United States. Their first collaboration was in1996 as part of a concert tour, entitled Musical Treasures from Bulgaria, sponsored by the Cyril and Methodius International Foundation. Since then the Duo has been involved in numerous New York performances, most notably at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall. Engagements for the 2005/2006 Season include recitals at New York's Donnell Library; Arlan Baillie Steinway Performance Series in Maine; Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York; and the Chamber Music Society of Scarsdale. The Duo has also been invited to present a recital and master classes at the Louisiana State University School of Music. Other performances include a concert tour of Bulgaria and Macedonia as well as recordings for the National Radio in Sofia. The Duo resides in New York.
