The 12 Klavierstücke für kleine und große Kinder, Op. 85 are a set of pieces for “Children Big and Small”. For today’s concert, Maksim Shtrykov has transcribed the primo part for the clarinet while Misuzu Tanaka performs the secondo part as written. It is interesting to note that Robert Schumann was fond of children and later gave the following advice to young musicians: "Rest from your musical studies by industriously reading the poets”.
