Musician's or Publisher's Notes

Bach's abilities as an organist were highly respected throughout Europe during his lifetime, although he was not widely recognized as a great composer until a revival of interest and performances of his music in the early 19th century. He is now generally regarded as one of the main composers of the Baroque style, and as one of the greatest composers of all time. Bach’s Six Sonatas and Partitas for violin solo are the pinnacle of the violin repertoire because of their complexity and beauty. Partita No.2 in D minor, BWV 1004 consists of four dance movements: Allemande, Courente, Sarabanda, Giga, and the famous Chaconne.    Piotr Filochowski
