Biography
Amy Shoremount-Obra has appeared in recital and concert on the stages of Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Oslo Konserthus, Oslo National Gallery, The Riverside Church, Trinity Church (Wall Street), The Sheldon (St. Louis), Manhattan School of Music, and The Juilliard School. She has made many other appearances in concerts and at music festivals in Wisconsin, Missouri, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York City, Chicago, and in Italy, Norway and England.
On the operatic stage, Ms. Shoremount-Obra has appeared as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor); Adina (L'Elisir d'Amore); Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte); Le Feu and Le Rossignol (L'Enfant et les Sortilèges); Le Rossignol (Le Rossignol); Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte); Frasquita (Carmen); Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail); Jenny (NY Premiere of Robert Ward's Roman Fever) and Ifigenia (Händel's Oreste) with such companies as The Metropolitan Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, Spoleto Festival Italy, Opera Festival of New Jersey, New Jersey Opera, The Chicago Cultural Center, and Juilliard Opera Center. Ms. Shoremount-Obra makes her New York City Opera Debut in Spring 2009 as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute.
Ms. Shoremount-Obra was a National Semi-Finalist and the New York Regional Winner of the 2004 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She was a 2003 Finalist in the George London Competition, the recipient of the 2005 Richard F. Gold Career Grant from the Shoshana Foundation and The Juilliard School, and the recipient of the 2003 Hugh Ross Award for a Singer of Unusual Promise, from Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Shoremount-Obra was also awarded 2006 and 2007 career grants from the Metropolitan Opera National Council's Education fund. Most recently, Ms. Shoremount-Obra was a finalist in the 2008 Giulio Gari International Vocal Competition.
